Setting up two-factor authentication

Add an authenticator-app code to your login, and keep your backup codes somewhere safe.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second step to logging in — your password, plus a code from an authenticator app on your phone. Turn it on from Settings → Security.

Turning it on

  • Settings → Security → Enable
  • Scan the QR code with an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, or similar)
  • Enter the 6-digit code the app generates to confirm it's set up correctly
  • Save the backup codes you're shown — this is the only time you'll see them
Backup codes are shown once, right after setup, and never again. Save them somewhere safe — a password manager is a good spot — before you close that screen.

Logging in with 2FA on

After your email and password, you'll be asked for a code — either the current 6-digit code from your authenticator app, or one of your backup codes if you don't have the app handy.

Turning it off

Settings → Security → Disable. You can always set it back up again later.
